Gluten Free Fall Bowls

There’s something about the crisp autumn air that makes cozy, hearty meals feel extra special.  When the leaves start to change and the evenings get cooler, I crave dishes that bring all the flavors of fall into one comforting bowl.  That’s exactly what these fall bowls deliver–a little sweet, a little savory, and whole lot of cozy comfort in every bite.

This recipe combines simple, wholesome ingredients but feels elevated and seasonal.  Roasted sweet potatoes and apples get dusted with cinnamon, which brings out their natural sweetness and adds warmth to the dish.  Pair that with juicy chicken apple sausage, a crumble of crispy bacon, and a sprinkle of creamy goat cheese, and you’ve got layers of flavor that taste like autumn in every forkful.  It’s a meal that manages to be both hearty and fresh at the same time.

The best part?  These bowls are incredibly easy to put together.  Everything roasts up beautifully on a sheet pan, making cleanup quick and painless–always a win for busy weeknights.  You can even prep the roasted apples and sweet potatoes ahead of time to make assembling dinner even faster.  This dish is also naturally gluten free and you can leave off the goat cheese if you want to keep it fully dairy free.

Gluten Free Fall Bowls

Cozy in a bowl! These fall bowls are loaded with chicken apple sausage, roasted apples + sweet potatoes, a sprinkle of cinnamon, crispy bacon and creamy goat cheese. Basically autumn comfort food made easy!
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 40 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 5 large apples
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 10-15 links chicken and apple sausage we like the aidells brand
  • 1 packet bacon
  • goat cheese for topping
  • honey for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 400℉
  2. Peel and dice the sweet potatoes and add them to a baking sheet.
  3. Dice the apples and add them to the baking sheet
  4. Season the apples and sweet potatoes generously with cinnamon
  5. Place the baking sheet in the oven at 400℉ for 20 minutes
  6. Slice the chicken and apple sausage, after 20 minutes place the sausage on the tray with the apples and sweet potatoes and place back into the oven at 400℉ for an additional 15-20 minutes
  7. Place the pack of bacon on a tray and place that in the oven at 400℉ for 15-20 minutes or until it is nice and crispy
  8. Build your bowl by scooping the sweet potatoes, apples, and chicken apple sausage into the bowl and then top with crumbled bacon, goat cheese, and a drizzle of honey.
